Happy President’s Day! For some of us in the United States, President’s Day is a school holiday and that means the kids are home. And what do you do with board kid that are stuck at home? Get out the arts and crafts!
For this President’s Day I thought a color challenge would be fun. Create a card using Red, White and Blue.
I’ve been wanting to use Stampin’ Up! new Brusho Color Crystals and this project is the perfect choice because they burst when they hit water. Kind of like a fireworks show on paper. And fireworks are just what we need to celebrate our awesome presidents of this amazing country.
President’s Day Color Challenge Activity
Today in honor of President’s Day I am creating a card using red, white and blue.
- Tape a piece of watercolor paper to a board to keep it flat through the process.
- Take a spray bottle filled with water. Give the paper one good spray.
- Next take the Prussian Blue crystals and tap in two different spots.
- Second take the Brilliant Red and tap a few times around the blue.
- Do NOT touch the paper. Let it sit there until it is completely dry (about an hour)
Card Details
- Once the paper is completely dry stamp the large butterfly in Versamark Ink in the upper right corner
- Heat emboss the butterfly with white embossing powder
- Stamp “thinking of you” on a scrap of Whisper White card stock
- Trim the sentiment and snip a flag tail on one end
- Trim watercolor paper to 3 3/4″ x 5″
- Glue the watercolor paper to a piece of Whisper White card stock 4″ x 5 1/4″
- Glue layers on a Dapper Denim card base 8 1/2″ x %1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″
- adhere flag sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals
