One way I find inspiration is to keep a look out for things in my surroundings that would make an interesting or pretty cards. There are a lot of great ideas if we just attune our mind to look for them. For instance use the color scheme in a piece of fabric or flower garden. Use the design layout of an advertisement on a billboard or wall art in a home decor store. These are just a few ideas.
Find Inspiration from a Plate
Last week during spring break my girlfriends and I went to a Mexican restaurant for margaritas. As we were waiting to be seated I saw a plate hanging on the wall and immediately thought of our Painted Harvest stamp set. I took the picture to look at when I got home.
Card Details
I wanted a blue background like the plate but not just a pieces of card stock. The background needed to have interest. So, I decided a water color background would work nicely and used the Prussian Blue from the Brusho Color Crystals.
The new Brusho Color Crystals make water color backgrounds so easy. I did a post a while back on how awesome they are. You can click HERE to see it.
I saturated the watercolor paper and tapped out color crystals all over. Then I let it dry over night.
At first I thought I would cover the card with sunflowers like the plate but ended up deciding on one layered on top of leaves, twine and a doily.
Not only can you find inspiration outside but you can also find it in magazines and other published works. Remember when you can’t think of a card idea just open your eyes. Open your eyes to world around.
I’d love for you to share where you find inspiration. By leaving an idea in the comments below you’ll help all of us find that inspiration we’ve been looking for.
Thank you for stopping by. I hope you have a stampendous day!
