Good Morning! Today is the first Sunday in Lent and I wanted to share with you my first Lenten Bible Journal. Bible journaling is not only fun but it’s a great form of meditation that produces an incredible lasting impression. I am following Sarah over at sarahknepper.com She has picked 6 verses for us and we are sharing them on Instagram #biblejournalingthroughlent
I tried Bible journaling last Lent but only got one page done. So, this year I’m going to use my blog for accountability. Be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss next week.
You may say that’s pretty but I could never do that. Well let my tell you I used to think that too until I learned the best trick. I don’t draw, I trace! Also because I’m so new at this I searched pinterest for some ideas for this week’s verse and found this beautiful example from Joanie over at Artsy Faith. She did hers free hand but I created the word art on my computer, printed it off and then traced it.
Another thing I learned is that if you don’t want your ink to bleed through to the other side of the page you need to Gesso it first. So, last night I put a clear thin coat of matte gel over the entire page and this morning I was ready to journal before church.
First I colored the background. To create the sun I simply used a watercolor pencil and colored it in then used my blender pen to make it more like a watercolor painting. Then I traced the words from the words I printed on my computer. Voila! Beautiful Bible journaling.
Do you Bible Journal? Or have you wanted to try? You should. It really is fun and so easy. I love it and I’m really exited to share it with you. Search the hashtag #biblejounaling on Instagram or search for it on pinterest to see hundreds of other beautiful examples.
I used the watercolor pencils and blender pen from Stampin’ Up! If you click on the pictures below it will take you to my shop.
