Today I’m sharing a warm and cozy Thanksgiving two-page scrapbook layout featuring leafy clusters, rich fall colors, and a sweet acorn border that ties everything together. This design is simple, photo-friendly, and perfect for documenting your family’s Thanksgiving celebration.

A Rough Start… But a Beautiful Layout!

This project began during my Monday Night Stamping Live, and let’s just say… technology wasn’t cooperating. 😆 My microphone cut out, Facebook couldn’t hear me, YouTube could hear me, then no one could hear me. It was a whole adventure.

But once the sound kicked in, the creativity flowed, and we created this bright, cheerful Thanksgiving layout using:

  • Wood-grain designer paper
  • Warm fall tones (Cajun Craze, Old Olive, Crushed Curry, Early Espresso)
  • Die-cut leaves, acorns & berries
  • A handmade journaling card
  • A big bold title: A Day of Thanks

The Background Base

Each 12″ x 12″ page uses the same background layering:

  • 6″ x 12″ Cajun Craze
  • 2″ x 12″ Old Olive
  • ¾” x 12″ Early Espresso
  • 6″ scalloped espresso borders (cut on the Cricut)
  • Wood-grain DSP as the foundation

This gives the layout balance and symmetry, making the final spread feel cohesive.

The Acorn Border (My Favorite Part!)

Along the top border, I added a row of stamped & die-cut acorns. This took some time—there are a lot of acorns in that border!—but it adds so much personality, warmth, and movement across the page.

If you’d like, you can recreate it I stamp and cut out 35 acorns plus a few extras for others parts of the layout.

Photos, Photos, Photos!

This layout holds seven photos (and could hold more if you tuck extra mats behind the layers):

  • one 3½” x 5½” focal photo
  • two 5½ x 3½” focal photo
  • four 3½” x 3½” supporting photos (2 are matted photos using Crushed Curry to bring brightness to the layout)
  • A 3″ x 4″ journaling card block

I love how the golden yellow mats pop against the rich woodgrain and Old Olive paneling.

Leaf Clusters & Fall Embellishments

To add movement and visual interest, I created three leaf clusters—forming a triangle that guides the viewer’s eye across the layout.

Each cluster includes:

  • stamped leaves
  • acorns
  • a circle shape for grounding
  • glitter dots

These clusters give the layout just the right amount of detail without overwhelming the photos.

The Journaling Card

I created a custom journaling card using:

  • A 3″ x 4″ piece of DSP
  • A 3″ x 4″ white panel
  • Stamped lines
  • The word “Gather” at the top (from the Gather Together set)

It ties everything together and gives you space to record:

  • Where you were
  • Who celebrated
  • Any traditions
  • Special memories
  • Funny little moments

The Title: A Day of Thanks

The title anchors the right page and brings the whole design together.

I used large die-cut letters, and as I always do, I stored all of the extra letters by color in a small Ziploc bag inside each cardstock folder. That way, next time I need one more “A” in Cajun Craze, I’m ready!

A Layout Full of Warm Memories

This spread tells the whole story of our Thanksgiving day:

  • cooking together
  • the turkey
  • the family photo (wearing granddaddy’s baseball hats!)
  • the kids playing
  • laughter and celebration
  • a house full of gratitude

You only need a few strips of paper and some fall die-cuts to create a layout that beautifully captures the love, chaos, and joy of Thanksgiving Day.
