In this rock salt watercolor tutorial, I’m going to show you how I made this really cool background. And then I show you how I used it to create a beautiful holiday card.

Besides these supplies, you will also need
- low tack tape
- artboard or some other hard water-resistant surface
- rock salt ( table salt will also work)
Rock Salt Watercolor Tutorial Measurements
- Whisper White Card base 8 – 1/2″ x 5 – 1/2″
- Watercolor Paper 4 – 1/2″ x 6″
- Silver Foil sheet 4″ square and a small scrap
- White Velvet paper 3″ square
- Whisper White flag 1″ x 2 – 1/2″
Instructions
- Tape watercolor paper to board with low tack tape
- Saturate watercolor paper with clear water
- Paint watercolor paper with Bermuda Bay ink
- Let dry
- Cut watercolor paper 3 – 3/4″ x 5″
- Use largest and smallest snowflake dies to cut out silver snowflakes and themedium snowflake with white velvet
- Stamp “Joy” on the white strip and snip a tail on the right side
- Glue large silver snowflake on the left side of watercolor paper
- Adhere “Joy” flag to the center of the large silver snowflake
- Glue the medium white velvet snowflake on top of the silver snowflake and flag
- Use a mini dimisional to attach the small silver snowflake
- Adhere the watercolor layer to the base with large dimensionals
