So you just got back from this years conference and you have all these great new products you want to share with your customers. So you decide to host an Open House. But where to start?
6 tips for hosting an open house
When hosting an open house you want your home to be inviting and the area well laid out so your guests get excited about all your new products.
Start with a theme
A theme will help make the room feel pulled together and give the event order. Your theme can be a color, something that is trending, seasonal or even a time in history.
For my Open House I chose to highlight one of our new products as the theme. I love the new Delightful Daisy Suite and so went with a daisy theme and the color yellow.
Next be sure to have a welcome area where guests can sign in
Staying with my theme I found a sign in sheet on-line with daisies. I also made thank you treats for my guests to take home. I got the thank you idea from Mary Fish on her blog HERE
Serve some yummy refreshments
A place where you can go all out with your theme is at the refreshment table. I went to Pinterest and searched daisy party and got the idea for these cupcakes and daisy sugar cookies. You can find almost any shape cookie cutter for sugar cookies these days. And the best sugar cookie recipe hands down is from Susan Keuter. These are the cookies Cathy Zielske raves about on her blog and they really are the best! You can get the recipe from her blog HERE
Display your new products
You will need an area to display your new products. You can use shelves and a table for this. Be sure to use different heights to give interest to your display. Lynn Bordowski has an excellent tutorial on this technique you can read about HERE. Also have a place where your guest can browse through the new catalog to place an order. You can incorporate your theme here too with a simple banner.
Hands on area
If you have a product that your customers can try out be sure to have an area for this too. I sell stamps for making greeting cards so here I have set up an area for my guests to make a card using the new products for themselves.
Door Prizes
And it wouldn’t be a party without door prizes. Have small inexpensive items you can give away every half hour and then you might also have something really nice for a grand prize too.
An Open House is a great way to showcase your business. It is a time to present what you and your business have been working on and what you have to offer the community. I hope these ideas help. If you have any other ideas that you would like to share, please leave them in the comments below.
Thanks and remember, to do something creative everyday.
