Happy Friday! I have another watercolor background card for you today. But instead of using the baggie and marker technique like I did HERE, I did it the traditional way using a paintbrush. I used Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive ink to get this beautiful sunset background.
Lovely as a Tree Watercolor sunset background
To prevent warping, always tape your watercolor paper to a hard surface before you begin. To get this sunset look first completely cover your paper in clean water. Then starting at the top paint yellow going back and forth in a sweeping motion. Continue in a sweeping motion switch to orange and finally green. In the picture below you can see where I tried masking off some mountains but I ended up not liking it and painted the whole top yellow.
Creating the Card
Use a heat gun to dry your paper completely before taking it off the board. Once it is dried it’s time to create your card. Stamp the Lovely As A Tree stamp in black to give the effect of a silhouette from the sunset. To create the Give Thanks medallion I stamped the Give Thanks stamp from Labels to Love stamp set (not available until Sept 1) on Vanilla cardstock in Soft Suade then cut it out on the Big Shot with the Layering Circles and matted it with a Pumpkin Pie card stock scalloped circle. I mounted the watercolor paper on Early Espresso cardstock. Before putting all on a card base I attached a Crushed Curry ribbon for the finishing touch.
I hoped you like today card. All the supplies I used are listed below. Each image is a link to that product in my shop.
