I love the beautiful golden aspen leaves of fall. I’ll never forget the first time I saw a golden Rocky Mountain fall. It is so different from the vibrant red and orange fall of the Appalachians.
In October of 2006 my husband and I were driving to the Grand Canyon. Just as we crossed into Arizona from the New Mexico side we stopped for a 3 mile hike on Escudilla Mountain. At first it was just an ordinary hiking trail through slender white trunks of an aspen grove. But the higher up the trail the more beautiful the forest became. On this bright blue day sunlight was dancing through the quaking golden aspen leaves that had not fallen yet turning the whole forest into a magical kingdom. I couldn’t get enough of this dazzling display of God’s spectacular creation. And today every time I see an aspen leaf it takes me back to that beautiful day.
Golden Aspen Leaves on Escudilla Mountain
The Vintage Leaves stamp set from Stampin’ Up! has an aspen leaf and I thought it would be fun to try and create a card that captures the beauty of the golden aspen leaves. I used the aspen leaf stamp on Crushed Curry cardstock and accented the card with Fresh Fig. I hope you like it. We live in the mountains of AZ and do a yearly Fall Colors camping weekend here in the mountains. The Aspens are always amazing, and the colors beautiful! I love the card, perfect for the season. 🙂
